If you're planning on doing some redecorating, you may want to consider adding a discreet touch of opulence to the rooms. A Picasso and Monet can be picked up at any auction house. Antiques are simple used leftovers, and designer furniture goes out of style as quickly as it came in. We've found a few true gems that will make your bathrooms a conversation piece and your dining room table truly fit for a king.
Bathroom
Jewels
Starting off with probably the most important piece of 'furniture' in the house
- the throne. It was Lenin who dreamt of creating a golden toilet for the
masses, but it was a jeweler in Hong Kong who rolled up his sleeves and plunged
into a golden lav. When it comes to the 'little room' a trip to the Orient will
provide some decorating tips like this 24 K gold toilet complete with gold wash
basins, toilet brushes, toilet paper holders, mirror frames and wall-mounted
chandeliers. The price a couple of years ago for this golden bowl was around $4
million, but today it's probably nearer $8 million. Would have been a great
investment...
Bathtub Brilliance
Any
ole Trump can buy themselves a marble bath but very few go that extra step to
bathe in a tub of pure gem. This Amethyst bath by Baldi is probably the most
opulent tub in town. There are even gem accessories such as an amethyst soap
dish, lotion dispenser and tumbler.
Dining Room
Crystal
glasses are, well, out of style. It's time to update your stemware collection
with something a little more 'forever'; a set of glasses with a diamond inside.
Glass artist Tobias Berger and Natascha Marx have launched a set of handcrafted
stemware, caviar dishes, napkin rings, and ashtrays all featuring diamonds.
Their "Imperial" Champagne glass has 8.1 carats worth of diamonds and is plated
with 180 grams or 6.34 oz of gold. Each glass, which they claim is the world's
most expensive, is selling for about $96,109.
