Huge necklaces, bawdy brooches, layered chains, giant earrings and chunky bangles are the trends spilling out of Fashion Week's runways this year. Yellow gold continues to be the must-have metal, as Monique Lhuillier featured long gold chain pendants by jewelry designer, John Hardy, to accessorize her line.
Perhaps the most impressive jewelry showing was at the always classy, Oscar de la Renta show. Giant coral necklaces and cereal bowl-sized hoop earrings were just some of the stunning pieces worn with gowns Hollywood's A-list will surely eyeball for their acceptance speeches.
So how to incorporate these trends into your own wardrobe? Think bigger is better. Troll vintage stores and grandma's jewelry box. Visit your local mall retailers and department stores that offer a wide selection of long chains and pearl strands you can layer. And don't forget that sometimes all you need is one chunky bangle or one pair of drop earrings to make an outfit work.
