The Twilight Premiere Brings out the Fangs

Crowds swarmed the streets, screaming fans waved hand-made signs, cameras flashed, tears were shed - the occasion? Nope, it's not Election Night in Chicago or a rowdy Prop 8 rally in San Francisco. It was last night's Twilight movie premiere in Los Angeles - perhaps the biggest teen movie sensation to hit the big screen since Leonardo DiCaprio started growing facial hair.
For those of you who don't know (or live vicariously through) a teen, Twilight is a Romeo and Juliet love story between an awkward 17-year-old girl and a 90-year-old vampire in the guise of a super cute high school boy. Unrequited love meets the Goth scene. It's no wonder the country is obsessed.
The film is based on the hit book series written by Stephanie Meyer, and the movie is sure to bring the fan base to a wider audience of moms, dads and older siblings who appreciate a good vampire flick.
Robert
Pattinson and Kristin Stewart, who play the star-crossed lovers, were
overwhelmed by the fan response at the premiere. Some camped out for days to get
a glimpse of their favorite characters and others drove from miles away.
"With every week, the fervor and anticipation seems to grow," Pattinson told Entertainment Weekly. "This is my life. People know my name and ambush me in public and try to figure out what hotel I'm staying at and ask me to bite them and want to touch my hair. I have accepted it as real now, but it still feels surreal."

Chokers: Necklaces generally fit snug around your neck if you're a goth princess. Perhaps to protect against your run-of-the-mill vampire or to show off your close relationship to a world without oxygen.
Bats and Spiders: Any manner of the creepy and the crawly work for a goth look - but bats and spiders are at the top of the food chain.
Rubies: Blood is big in the underworld, people, and what other gemstone could possibly represent the vampire elixir better than the ravenous ruby. Find them on a cross pendant or a spiked cuff, and you'll double down on the all-important death and destruction factor.
So whether your true persuasion is uber-angelic or devilishly devious, it's always fun to get in touch with your glittering dark side.
Now go dig out those Morrissey albums, your black eyeliner and that pesky white foundation to show those meddling teenagers how it's really done!
