Lavish meals, extravagant jewelry, and all manner of pomp and circumstance were heaped upon our nation's President, as he made his history-making visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday.
His host was King Abdullah, the monarch of the oil-rich country, who welcomed Obama at his luxurious desert horse farm, introducing him to all manner of princes and dignitaries.
After a brief chat on gilded chairs while sipping cardamom-flavored Arabic coffee, the King presented the president with the gigantic gold necklace called the King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit, the nation's highest honor.
"Those are only given to the very few friends of the king, and you are certainly one of those," Abdullah said as he presented the thick chain and large medallion to our President
And Obama's response?
"Goodness gracious. That's something there."
