While the President laid out his plan for our country last night, fashionistas laid eyes on our favorite obsession: the First Lady's wardrobe - and Mrs. O didn't disappoint.
Wearing a fresh new bob, Michelle Obama's signature white pearl strand was the perfect compliment to her Isaac Mizrahi dress in pretty plum - a far cry from what many called her 'inappropriate' sleeveless look the last time around.

Power pearls and purple were also the style choice of Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, who paired her ubiquitous multi-color pearl strand with a lavendar suit. The 'Pelosi pearls' have been a constant staple of the Speaker's wardrobe, causing many pearl vendors to replicate the look for their customers (they're said to be 11-13mm Tahitian and South Sea pearls worth anywhere from $5,000 - $10,000.
Many are speculating the purple presence on not just Obama and Pelosi, but Joe Biden's tie and many others in the audience, to be a sign of political unity since it's a mix of blue and red. If that's what it takes to make Washington work together, we're all for it.
