The Chicago Field Museum is giving aspiring grooms a glittering new way to do the 'diamond ring reveal'. Popping the question just got a whole lot bling-ier.
Fellas,
we feel for you when it comes to popping the question. You not only have to pick
out the perfect diamond engagement ring, you have to figure out a way to make
the proposal a memorable one.
For men who like to 'go big' with the bling and the pageantry, the Chicago Field Museum has the perfect way for aspiring grooms to do the deed.
For a fee of $350, guys can arrange to put their ring into a case identical to others in the newly renovated Grainger Hall of Gems, which displays some of the world's most famous diamonds and gemstones - including the Tiffany yellow diamond worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys.
The case is located near the entrance of the gallery and the Special Events department coordinates timing and the opening/closing of the case. The fee includes a champagne toast, and the Chicago Tribune reports there have already been seven proposals in the past three months.
One lucky woman gushed about her gallant groom-to-be,
"I thought, 'What is he doing? He's breaking into this case at the Field Museum! He's going to get arrested.'"
"I'm a romantic," her fiance revealed. "I wanted to give her a story she would never forget."
