Diamonds dripped on the red carpet at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards last night, as the music industry's hottest stars flaunted jewelry fashion that ranged from the glamorous to the downright gaudy.
Chunky diamond studs and simple hoops were the preference of stars like Jennifer Hudson, Rihanna in Neil Lane diamond clusters, and the 'poof'-less Jersey Shore diva, Snookie in her signature hoops.
Statement earrings continue to shine bright with the night's big winner, Taylor Swift, who looked lovely in a beaded Kaufman Franco gown and 12 carat custom-designed Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira pendant earrings. Some kids have all the luck. And divas, Mary J. Blige and Pink followed suit - the latter in over $2.5 million of Neil Lane diamonds including a stunning brooch used as a hair clip.
Nude emerged as the red carpet color trend of choice, with Beyonce sporting a form-fitting blush satin gown from Stephane Rolland and a gaudy gold statement ear from Lorraine Schwartz (not one of her better looks). Katy Perry used yellow gold in the guise of skull earrings and an Indian bindy to accessorize her nude bejeweled Zac Posen frock.

But there's no denying the fashion force that is Lady Gaga. While traditional jewelry was a no-show on the iconic monster maven, the gems instead were orbiting around her stunning Armani Prive gown - a design custom-made for Gaga for the big occasion. And despite the fact that she didn't win the big awards last night, she definitely won the prize for pushing the fashion envelope (and for best performance) in our books. Bravo!
