This Season's JA Jewelry Show in New York
The Arctic January cold didn't deter jewelry buyers, designers and manufacturers from descending on New York City for the winter edition of the JA New York trade show. This weekend the show opened on Saturday Jan. 25 with the popular "Best of Italy" preview and ended Tuesday Jan. 28. Not only was the Italy preview back this time, but also so is the "Red Carpet Jewelry Tour", which
featured baubles worn by the stars on the red carpet at various events. The tour, which of course
offers little gossip tidbits on the jewelry-wearing celebrities, allowed visitors to see not only how the behind-the-scenes jewelry selection process works but visitors were also able to speak to the designers and manufacturers.
Big topics in the Big Apple
The show was not, of course, all fun and games. Various informative seminars were held on how jewelry sales are being affected by the world economy, the war on terrorism and other current events. Other seminars offered information on things such as how to maximize your website, leadership and promotional displays. To put a finger on the pulse of jewelry trends for 2003, visitors needed only browse the aisles of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Popular sections included the High-End Jewelry Section, Platinum Pavilion, The American Time Clock and Watch Section and the New Product Gallery.
The Success of the show has yet to be fully gagued at this printing. With the show closing today the final numbers on attendance will be forth coming.
