Harry Winston Buys Back Lopez's Pink Rock

Luxury jeweler Harry Winston said it has bought back the 6.1-carat pink diamond ring that actor Ben Affleck gave actress and singer Jennifer Lopez to mark their engagement and is offering it for resale.

Affleck bought the ring, which attracted worldwide attention and a rash of copies, from Winston's New York store in 2002 leading media interest in their relationship to soar to new heights.

The ring, which reportedly cost Affleck a cool $2.5 million, led to a sudden rise in demand for rare pink diamonds.

Affleck and Lopez suddenly called off their wedding in September 2003, saying media interest in their relationship was excessive.

Among celebrities who followed in Affleck's footsteps was English soccer star David Beckham who bought his wife Victoria a $1.8 million 10-carat pink diamond ring as a peace offering after admitting to having an affair.
